Here is a good one. I have often wondered if solicitors are becoming afraid of their own shadows. An undertaking given by a firm to my firm to discharge a mortgage recently contained a qualification to the effect that: ‘We will not be in breach of the undertakings given by us in this matter or be liable to you or any other person as a result of any act, omission, failure, fraud, delay, negligence, insolvency or default of any… supernatural body or authority.’
